An Ode to Oranges

Pressing hard to puncture your skin,

The powder mist permeates

My thumb and forefinger.

Soft tear that slides down your belly when I peel you -

Crying for your name,

navel.

Perforated pebble pieces colored like a wet sunrise,

Broken smiles scattered in vivid hues.

Sunny flesh with whitened veins,

Luscious and filled to the brim with

juice rain.
